2024 Charity Boat Race Lorien/Phoenix

Event date: 3rd July 2024

Sophie Leyland is raising money for Lia's Wings

My story

Once again we are coming together as a team to compete with other companies (Including the Royal Navy) to race Dragon Boats on Dorney Lake in a fight for the podium.

This is a charity event to raise money for Lia's Wings.
Lia's Wings, formerly known as Lucy Air Ambulance for Children, was established in 2010 in response to an urgent need for an air transfer service for critically ill children. Initially they were run completely by volunteers who were passionate about helping babies and children access specialist treatment and care.

Lia's Wings completed their first ever transfer in 2011. They flew Benjamin 170 miles from the University of Staffordshire Hospital in Stoke-on-Trent to Kingston Hospital in Surrey, so that he could receive neonatal care closer to home. This was a huge milestone for the charity.

Since Ben’s transfer, the charity has significantly grown the number of transfers they do each year and increased the variety of specialist services they provide. Lia's Wings has established a strong reputation for flying babies and children to hospitals in the UK and, increasingly, from abroad. They are here for the whole family for as long as they need Lia's Wings to ensure improved outcomes for both the child and their support network.

Lia's Wings rely heavily on donations and everything we raise here will go towards saving lives.

Thank you for checking out my page. Making a donation is fast, easy and secure thanks to Give as you Live Donate. They'll take your donation and pass it onto Lia's Wings.
