My story
In May 2025 we discovered that our wonderful mother had been diagnosed with MND. For those unaware of MND, in its simplest form, it’s a neurological condition which attacks your muscular system, leading to many physical difficulties and fatality. There are 5 types of MND, and in Mums case, it’s Progressive Bulbar Palsy. PBP attacks the brain stem and impacts voice, swallowing and breathing to begin with. So in a way to raise awareness of the condition and much needed funds for the various charities to enable the ongoing medical and scientific research, as well as the support for the individuals suffering from the condition, throughout 2026, along with family and friends I will be carrying out and completing…26 different physical events across a wide range of activities, ranging from running, hiking and cycling to kayaking and functional fitness events.
With the impact that MND has on your physical being, it highlights how lucky many of us are to have a body that functions and moves as it’s designed to. Some events will have various adaptations which link to the difficulties and challenges that MND sufferers experience and live with.
And don’t worry…I won’t be posting and asking for donations on 26 saperate occasions…it’ll be just a couple but many updates on progress and completion of challenges.
