3 Peak Challenge

Event date: 8th June 2024

Tom Leatherland is raising money for Willen Hospice and Penny Brohn UK

My story

I have signed up, along with the majority the JPP staff (currently 47 of us), to undertake the Yorkshire 3 Peak challenge on June 8th. The challenge consists of trekking around 26 miles through the Yorkshire dales national park and reaching the summit of Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough within 12 hours.

We will be doing this challenge to raise money for Willen Hospice and Penny Brohn UK.

The backstory for supporting these amazing charities is that last June I lost one of my best friends to Breast Cancer. Jasmin was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019 at the age of 30. Following numerous rounds of treatment, Jasmin was later diagnosed with secondary cancer (stage 4) in 2021 and despite further treatment, passed away on June 16th 2023 a month before her Wedding day. Penny Brohn UK supported Jasmin throughout her 4 years of living with cancer and Willen Hospice offered their support in her final 6 months. Personally her passing is not something I have properly processed or accepted yet as I never truly believed it would happen. She was an incredible person and I will miss her every day.

Whilst Jasmin was living with cancer, she raised an enormous amount of money for various charities and this is something I would like to continue in her memory.

Any donations will be very much appreciated through the link below.
