Our story

ROWING 7 MARATHONS on 7 CONSECUTIVE DAYS on Concept2 rowers - which is 42,195 Meters a day -  a total of 295,365 Meters in the week!

Recently a close family member of Martin's was diagnosed with MND, in support of Andrew and in memory of good friend Chris Perry, Martin was inspired by the recent efforts of Kevin Sinfield and others, who ran seven marathons in seven days in support of Motor Neurone Disease Charities.

Four of us, Richard Greaves, Martin Skehan, Rob Sowden and Dave Williams, have challenged ourselves with Rowing Seven Marathons in Seven Days on Concept 2 rowing machines.

Other rowers across the indoor rowing community are supporting the challenge, including Mark Betts and Jess Harvey who are rowing their own challenge distances. Let us know if you would like to join the challenge too.

We hope to keep the fundraising efforts going for the MND community and Hospice Organisations, who play an invaluable role in both care and support.

Awareness of Motor Neurone Disease (MND) has been increased following courageous struggles endured by international sports competitors Doddie Weir, Rob Burrow and others. This disease is around us in the community, affecting around 5,000 people at any one time in the UK. Sufferers endure weakness in the muscles, eventually paralysis, and often difficulties with speech and swallowing. Disease progression is often rapid and up to one third of sufferers succumb to the disease within a year.

Care for MND patients in the community varies in different localities and often a key role in support is within local hospices. A friend of ours was recently supported by the Severn Hospice in Shropshire. On a national scale, the Motor Neurone Disease Association plays a hugely important role for sufferers and their families whilst progressing research and awareness into MND.

We thank you for supporting our efforts over our 7-in-7 Rowathon Week.
