Sonia Linda and Elaine is raising money for Abbeyfield Society
Starting this week, Sonia and Linda will be walking 2 miles every weekday until 31st May 2025. They’re doing this to raise awareness for some of the most vulnerable residents at Abbeyfield House — those who have no family support and very limited funds.
Elaine is also joining the cause in her own way by walking to work every day, choosing to step forward for others instead of taking public transport.
We’re walking to show that we care — and to remind everyone that no one at Abbeyfield should ever feel left behind or forgotten.
Every step we take is for those who can’t.
Every mile is a message of support.
At Abbeyfield House New Malden, we care for residents who arrive with little more than their memories. While we provide a safe and supportive home, many have no access to the personal comforts or small joys that make life truly meaningful.
Without family or personal funds, some residents go without essentials — like haircuts, or the chance to enjoy outings, music, or birthday celebrations. These are the things that bring dignity, connection, and happiness.
With your help, we can provide:
Together, we can ensure every resident feels valued, included, and truly at home — no matter their financial situation.
Because at Abbeyfield House New Malden, no one should feel forgotten.
Thank you for checking out my page. Making a donation is fast, easy and secure thanks to Give as you Live Donate. They'll take your donation and pass it onto Abbeyfield Society.
Friday Finish – With the Next Generation Leading the Way!
We wrapped up the week in the best way possible—out on another fundraising walk, this time joined by some very special little helpers! Sonia and Linda brought along their grandchildren for a sunny stroll, and even Hope was in great company.
It’s been amazing to see our team grow—one walk at a time. From staff to family, the energy and support around this challenge is just incredible.
Big cheers to our youngest walkers who brought joy, laughter, and some serious enthusiasm to Friday’s steps!
The Abbeyfield spirit is strong—across all generations. Let’s keep going!

Thursday Steps & Gym Gains – Team Abbeyfield Keeps Moving!
Sonia and Linda were back on the move Thursday evening—joined, of course, by Hope—getting their steps in and making it count for our fundraising goal. Their route took them past local favourites like AFC Wimbledon and Woodies Freehouse, and their energy hasn’t wavered one bit!
Meanwhile, I’ve been keeping the momentum up in the gym—another 5.46 miles, 427 calories burned, and 3.2K feet of elevation on the Arc Trainer. Every mile logged is a step closer to our target, and it’s been incredible to see everyone’s effort come together.
I’m beyond proud of this team and the way we’re turning everyday walks and workouts into something meaningful.
Let’s keep going—every step matters!

Evening strolls and big smiles!
Last night we were back at it again—me, Sonia, Linda, and the ever-enthusiastic Hope!
We walked, we laughed, we posed by some pretty impressive trees (Hope included), and most importantly—we kept moving toward our goal.
These evening walks have become such a joyful part of our week, and your support continues to fuel our motivation.
Thanks for cheering us on—more steps, more smiles, and more impact, one evening at a time!
Hi everyone!
Just a little update from us—Sonia and Linda (and Hope 🐶!)—to say we’ve completed our 5 walking days as promised last week. Rain, bank holidays, or busy shifts didn’t stop us, and we’re proud to be doing our bit to help reach the fundraising goal.
We’ve really enjoyed getting out together (especially Hope!) and seeing how every step adds up to something meaningful.
Elaine here too—I've been walking home after work and it's been such a lovely way to unwind while also supporting a cause close to all our hearts.
We’ve added a few photos from our walks—thank you for all the encouragement so far. Let’s keep this going!
Rain or shine, treadmill or pavement—Team Abbeyfield is unstoppable!
Last Friday, Sonia and Linda braved the rain for a 2.24-mile walk, showing incredible dedication even on a soggy evening.
They kept the momentum going on Monday, proving once again that not even a bank holiday could slow them down—they promised to walk every weekday, and they’re sticking to it!
And they didn’t stop there—they were out again last night, this time joined by Linda’s dog, Hope, making it a real team effort!
Elaine also joined the movement, walking home from work after a full shift—turning an ordinary Tuesday evening into a powerful act of support.
And in the gym, Emanuela clocked an impressive 5.3 miles on the Arc Trainer, climbing the equivalent of 3,000 feet in elevation—proving that every step, no matter where it’s taken, counts toward our cause.
Thanks to everyone’s dedication and energy, we’re now halfway to our fundraising goal!
We couldn’t have done it without each and every one of you. Every mile, every effort, and every show of support is helping us make a difference.
Let’s keep the momentum going—together, we’ll reach the finish line!
Your donations will help the great work Abbeyfield Society do.
