Our story

We are Yineng, Ben & Jon, three counsellors taking on an abseil challenge to support The Light House, a counselling charity in Coventry, that helps people access the mental health support they need.

Counselling provides a safe space for people to talk, process what they have been through or are going through, and get support during some of the hardest moments in their lives. But for many, accessing that support isn’t easy - long waiting lists and costs can be a real barrier.

The Light House is committed to providing a counselling service that is accessible to all. It was founded in 1986 and is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year - a significant milestone that is achieved through the generous donations and support of many individuals and organisations over the decades.

Every donation, no matter the size, will make a difference, and will help more people get access to counselling when they need it most. If you're local, do come and cheer us on on the day!

If you would like to know a bit more about Yineng, Ben & Jon, please read on. However, if you are short on time, please feel free to go ahead and press the donate button now...

Yineng: I have been part of The Light House for over 10 years. It has been a real privilege to come alongside people and I have learned so much from those I have had the opportunity to sit with. At the same time, it is deeply challenging to see that many who need counselling most struggle to access it due to financial barriers. I'm grateful to be part of a charity that is committed to making counselling accessible so that many can benefit from the transformative power of counselling.

Ben: I have been counselling at The Light House since I first started as a student in 2021. It's a privilege to be part of an organisation that has such a positive impact on so many people's lives, including my own.

Jon: I have been with The Lighthouse since 2024. I live in Leamington with my wife Charlotte and three children Zachary, Jude and Lauren. I attend Saltisford Church in Warwick. I work to help men build lives of connection, purpose and meaning, and do this through the work with mentoring charity ABandofBrothers and running men's groups at church and other places. I am about to qualify as a BACP approved integrative counsellor and have worked in Charity Leadership and small businesses.
