My story

Hi, my name is Hannah and I think I have lost my mind as I have chosen to take part in an abseil event down the Express Lift Tower in Northampton. The tower was designed by architect Maurice Walton and it stands 418ft heigh which is 127.5 metres tall. I don’t like heights. I am doing this for the charity Enfold who are absolutely amazing and help both my children and also adults/parents and carers living with/supporting people with Autism whether diagnosed or not. There are two sides to their services one is support and information based, groups for people of all ages to attend, training and so much more and the other side is funded through the Integrated Care Board and is their peer support programme. I have 3 children who are diagnosed with Autism, 2 children who have/are still using the peer support service and it’s because they are on the Dynamic Support Register that they can access this service. Enfold have stepped in to help support the children/build their confidence/life skills and try and prevent hospitalisation. I have used both sides of Enfold and they are such a fantastic charity that I want to pay something back. In a world of no services and endless waiting times stretching for years we need charities like these to survive and I know how rubbish it can feel from personal experience to not have help, to watch everyone else’s child meet their milestones, be able to interact, to eat properly, to act age appropriately, to be able to go to shopping centres and busy public spaces with out cause for meltdowns due to noise or people talking/walking to close/laughing. I know what it is like to be judged and stared at and to have to fight for EHCP’s and for your child’s basic rights to have an education and be part of society who struggle to accept anything or anyone that’s different and just be able to cope with every day life. I don’t get why in the world we live in that we are still relying on charities to fill an empty gap in basic support for people on the Autism Spectrum but on the 11th October 2025 I will be abseiling down the tower in hope of raising some money for a charity very close to my heart. Please help by donating if you can, it would be very much appreciated no matter how small and as I plan to mentally torture myself it would be great to get the amount as high as I can. Many Thanks
