Alex is running the Leeds Half Marathon for Ring 20

Gilly’s is a grant making trust that identifies amazing organisations you have probably never heard of but are each a shining example of a small charity doing incredible things to improve the lives of disadvantaged children, young people, families and adults in their own unique way.

This year I'm running the Leeds Half to raise money for one of our most recent grant recipients - Ring 20 Research and Support.

Ring 20 Research and Support is focussed on providing support for individuals, families and healthcare professionals who are affected by, or who come into contact with Ring Chromosome 20 Syndrome or r(20) – a rare form of epilepsy that is drug resistant and typically starts in childhood.

R20 syndrome is a rare disease and families who are affected often feel isolated and alone. Ring 20 Research and Support is developing a new initiative called the Families Liaison Project, which has been created to provide bespoke, timely and appropriate support, information and opportunities to enhance the quality of life for families living with ring chromosome 20 syndrome.

All of the money that I raise will be added to a restricted fund at Gilly's and be given as an additional grant to Ring 20 Research and Support to help fund the Families Liaison Project.
