Cycling 500+ miles to raise money for Kager village, Kenya

In August I will be cycling solo from Somerset to Edinburgh, a distance of around 500 miles to raise money for Orphfund.

In 2009 I was part of a team of volunteers who fundraised and helped to build an orphanage in Kager. It is one of the poorest regions of Kenya, with an HIV rate 3 times more prevalent than elsewhere in the country. Many children are unable to go to school and have to spend their days finding food.

At the moment we are helping around 80 orphans in the area, but there is still a lot of work to be done. We are returning to build two more homes, and complete a central dining and play area for the orphans in Kager. We also hope to attach water tanks to each of the homes to protect against the drought afflicting the area, and improve farming to make the project more self-sustaining.
