Event date: 3rd December 2023
Barrett Central Distribution Ltd are raising money for DEBRA
Our team of employees, throughout the Barrett Central Distribution Hubs, have dedicated themselves to support this fantastic charity 'DEBRA'.
We will be fundraising locally throughout 2023 & 2024 with all different types of activity.
1st of course had to be a 11 a side football match! Being held at the 'Barrett steel Stadium' home of Bottesford Town FC on December 3rd 3PM KO - Barrett Steel will take on 'Man .v. Fat'.
Why are we doing this ? 'DEBRA' and its members struck our teams personally - we believe that everyone should have the basic right to wake up and be pain free. Free to live our daily lives in the way we choose to ….. the sufferers of 'butterfly skin disease' don't always get this choice.
But.... even without this choice, they live their lives to the fullest. Which provides us with inspiration …. inspiration that needs support to enable research and technology to make peoples lives better and more comfortable.
DETAILS TO HELP UNDERSTANDING...….
EB is an incredibly painful genetic skin blistering condition. It causes the skin to blister and tear at the slightest touch. With skin as fragile as a butterfly’s wings, it’s often referred to as ‘Butterfly Skin’. EB can affect the hands and feet only or in the most severe cases any part of the body, including blistering on the eyes and internal organs. People living with EB live in constant debilitating pain and in severe cases it can be fatal.
DEBRA is a national charity and patient support organisation for people living with the rare, extremely painful, genetic skin blistering condition, Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) also known as ‘Butterfly Skin’. EB causes the skin to become very fragile and tear or blister at the slightest touch. There is currently no cure for EB. DEBRA delivers support services for the EB community, whilst funding research into drug repurposing to find life-changing treatments for EB.
