My head may be cold, but the farm won't be sold!

Event date: 21st September 2012

Baz Strak is raising money for The Farm Animal Sanctuary

My story

So, the decision to do this is a questionable one(!). I am very aware that 1. It will not be a good look for me. 2. I may lose friendships. 3. I will lose all celestial power. 4. It will be cold. 5. There are more statements to be made, but they should be obvious to all who know me.

BASICALLY:
I work on an organic farm where the care and welfare for animals is second to none. Their individual habitats are extremely spacious and consciously arranged to reflect a similar environment to what they would be 'naturally' used to. This does not tend to be the case with many conventional, and I expect some organic farms, where animals are kept in cages, on concrete, in disgustingly poor conditions and their respective 'lives' are the last concern of the farmer.
Since we as humans enjoy a meat-based diet, and we chose to farm these now domestic animals to provide for this, I'd like to think it only fair that we at least respect these animals while they are alive, and care and allow them some dignity during their often very short time on this planet. We as a race will always farm, it is our heritage and the reason why we're all here, living the lives that we're living, but that doesn't mean to say we cannot respect what we farm. Not enough consideration is given to the beautiful creatures that have provided for us for thousands of years and I'd like to think if a lot of people knew EXACTLY what went into those neatly presented packages in the chilled isles of Tesco, then there would be a lot of change.
There needs to be change. Food wastage in this country alone is enough to demand that.

Thus, I got to thinking.. abused, caged, beaten and tortured animals could do with some support more than I need my luscious curly locks.

SO:

The Farm Animal Sanctuary (please visit their website) are trying to raise enough money to purchase the farm that they have been based on now for 25 years. If they can't raise the money, they, and all the animals that they have adopted and care for will simply be evicted. This is pretty terrible, so I'm hoping that my bald head and a small show of acoustic musicians will help them to avoid this. But I need your help people, I cannot raise any money without your good hearts and generosity, so please, if you won't do it for animals, then please do it for the pleasure you will receive from laughing at my bald head.

All the best!
Baz
