My fundraising will be split equally between the Motor Neurone Disease Association & Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity.

My updates

*** Challenge Completed****
So after just under 12 months, I have completed my equivalent '12 Channel Swims - swimming one channel per month, during 2022 - a total of 252 miles or over 20,000 x 20 metre lengths.

It has been challenging at times and yesterday's swim seemed to be never ending, but glad to have finished now.

I also reached my £2000 target yesterday, which I am very pleased about. My Fundraising page will remain open until the end of January 2023, for anyone wishing to add to my total

Thank you to my work BPL Bircotes Leisure Centre, who are donating 50% of their Christmas Hamper Raffle profits to my Fundraising efforts - special mention and thanks to Julie Nugent, who has pushed the raffle sales and taken offline payments for me.

Those that know me, know of my support for Torquay United, I belong to a Torquay United Supporters group on Twitter called the ' Tom Lapslie Appreciation Society ' aka ' TLAS' thanks to them for their support and donating towards my swim along with individual members of the group, pushing my total up by over £200 - thanks especially to Matt Parkman (Admin) for constantly asking members to sponsor me.

Thanks also to friends and former colleagues from HM Prison Brixton, who also boosted my total by over a £100, at our Annual Reunion.

I couldn't forget my family, wife Sue and Alex & Siobhan, for putting up with me getting up for Early Morning Swims and for their support.
Thank you to all who have donated, I do really appreciate your support.

Finally I hope a cure can be found for these awful Diseases and at the same time, remembering my Friend Ray Roche, who passed away with MND in February 2021. RIP Ray.

Went on my Annual 'Carol Service' Reunion yesterday, meeting friends and former colleagues from HMP Brixton.
These following boosted my Swim Challenge donations by £100
Michael Quick, Paul and Roz Wood, Colin Iveson, Tony Ryan, Simon Humphrys, Keith Saunders and Paul Dobson

Also to the couple people I met yesterday on my train journeys to and from London, who also donated generously.
James a LNER train Driver (travelling down to London, to drive the Train back) told me that Weston Park Hospital was dear to him
and to Karen '1933 to Leeds' who me and my friend 'Smiler' talked to on the 2003 train back to Yorkshire (after our 1933 train was cancelled).

Thank you all, it really means a lot to me...

only 9.96 miles to go, to complete my 12 month Swim Challenge..

Cheers Tony

Got a real boost this week, with my fundraising from my fellow Torquay United Supporters group TLAS ' Tom Lapslie Appreciation Society ' a Torquay United player that we collectively Sponsor. They and other members of our group boosted my fundraising by £200 ,thank you so much to them.
I am now within ten miles of finishing my challenge, hopefully finishing around the 19th December.
Thanks also to my ex work colleagues from HMP Brixton, who have recently donated. Special mention to James a LNER. Train Driver who donated, after a brief conversation today. Thanks to you all.

After a quiet 2 weeks due to my rib injury, where I only managed 2 miles...
I'm back in the pool and on track now with a 2 and a quarter miles swim this morning.

Total now stands at 227.03 miles, so just under 4 miles to achieve my 11th 'Channel Swim'

Still a little short of my £2000 target.

BPL Bircotes Leisure Centre, where I work, are running a Christmas Hamper raffle at £1 each - for Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity and the MNDA, a portion of the profits will also add to my total.. So please support this if you can.

Thanks Big Tone
