Polen's 20th Birthday Fundraiser

Dear friends and family,

I am turning twenty on 30 January! The most meaningful gift would be to see my goal completed. Here is a little info about where your money would go:

For every £100 raised they can treat at least 200 children and protect them from the life threatening effects of NTDs for a year.

Schistosomiasis Control Initiative: www3.imperial.ac.uk/schisto is currently one of the most effective charities in the world. It focuses on combatting neglected tropical diseases, schistosomiasis, and intestinal worms.

For every £100 raised they can treat at least 200 children and protect them from the life threatening effects of NTDs for a year.

What I find most significant about this initiative is that one additional year of earning an income or attending a school can have dramatic effects on the community in the long-term through spending. It is also a project that eventually pays off in tax revenue.

According to Giving What We Can, "SCI also has a strong track record in delivering the intervention, demonstrates a commitment to evidence and transparency, and continues to have room for more funding to be used productively."

SCI needs as little as 50p to support the delivery of medication.
