Our story

Bi-annually Bowman Riley undertakes a "Big Event" to raise money for our charity partner. This year we have gone all out and created a mammoth challenge; we have set ourselves a challenge of completing an inclusive 24-hour endurance challenge accessible to all. The goal is to have at least one person participating in one of our four chosen endurance categories within 24 hours, between the 21st and 22nd of July. The endurance categories are - physical, performance, mental, and creative; some of the activities planned for the challenge include; sunrise hikes, karaoke, cake decorating, cycling, spending time inside 'the box' and crocheting anti-fiddle, canular sleeves for hospital-bound dementia patients (these will be donated to a local hospital via our charity partner).

Bowman Riley are committed to inclusivity, which is why we have ensured our event is accessible to all. We're aiming for every one of our 70-strong team to participate, to ensure we're successful in this monumental challenge!

We are raising money for our charity partner Dementia Forward. Dementia Forward is the leading dementia charity for York and North Yorkshire. They provide support, advice, and information to anybody affected by Dementia across the county. They have developed a comprehensive range of services, all with people living with Dementia at their heart. They work to knit dementia support into the community so that people can continue to live well for longer.

Dementia affects more than 50% of the UK public*. In the face of this startling statistic, Dementia Forward want to increase awareness and understanding by providing free, confidential advice and support so that no one has to face Dementia alone.

Our updates

In previous years, Bowman Riley have undertaken extremely physical challenges; the 'Big Row' for example, where the team canoed the length of Lake Windermere (and back) in a day!

This year, we wanted to ensure we tailored our big event to ensure it was inclusive and accessible to all; out of this concept Bowman Riley's 24 Hour Challenge was born.

Please support us and Dementia Forward as we undertaken this mammoth challenge.
