This page is raising money for Gloucester Choral Society
Every year Gloucester Choral Society performs a selection of carols old and new in a free-to-attend concert on Boxing Day. Despite the sadly ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, we are delighted to bring Carols for All to everyone, wherever you are this Christmas. This year, we are proud to be supporting Mindsong.
This year’s Carols for All will be broadcast online in two live concerts, at 4.15pm and 5.30pm. There’ll be carols, Christmas jumpers and possibly some festive headgear. Of course, Carols for All has always been a chance for you to sing too, so let’s see if we can hear you from the Cathedral! La la la from your living room, descant (is that a verb?) from the dining table and harmonise from the fire hearth.
Every year we choose a charity to support and this year is no different. Please, if you can, consider making a donation which will not only help Gloucester Choral Society, but also Mindsong, a Gloucestershire charity working with people who have complex dimentia. Once our costs for running the event have been deducted, your donation will support Mindsong’s wonderful work.
About Mindsong...
"The charity provides music therapy in people’s own homes (a vital service during the pandemic) and dementia friendly singing groups in care homes. Other services include a community dementia choir (Sing to Rember) and Befriending Pods.
Mindsong has continued to provide all its services throughout the pandemic and was one of the very few dementia services to keep going during lockdown. The volunteer led singing groups (Meaningful Music) have supported their care homes throughout, providing PPE, scrub bags and time for care home staff to talk. They have sung in care home gardens and under windows. They have sent weekly videos of singing sessions and also sung live via Zoom. Their current masterpiece, a panto on Zoom, is going down a storm.
It has been a truly challenging time, but Mindsong has shown itself to be not only resilient, but adaptable and determined. The charity expects the current level of need to continue well into 2021 and is grateful for your support to meet the costs of bringing music and support to anyone in need."
