At CAST (Community Assets Standing Tall), we’ve been dishing up hot meals, warm welcomes, and cold puddings for years at our Thursday Lunch Club – a lifeline for local older residents, people living alone, and anyone in need of good food and good company.

But – and here’s the chilly truth – our faithful fridge freezer is on its last legs. It’s clunking, groaning, and frankly doing more sulking than chilling. We’re worried it might give up altogether. And if it does, well… Thursday’s trifle might turn into a warm milkshake.

We urgently need a new fridge freezer to keep serving our community safely, hygienically, and with love. The kind of reliable machine that can keep our fresh veg crisp, our leftovers safe, and our desserts delightfully cold.

We’re not asking for luxury – just something that works, keeps cool, and doesn’t complain about it.

💬 A Bit About CAST & the Thursday Lunch Club

CAST has been part of the local community for years, working quietly (and sometimes noisily) behind the scenes to bring people together, reduce isolation, and ensure that no one feels forgotten.

Every Thursday, we open our doors for a hearty, homemade lunch, served with a side of conversation and a good dose of laughter. For many, it’s the highlight of the week – a place to connect, share stories, and enjoy a proper meal without worrying about the cost.

We run on donations, grants, and goodwill – and we stretch every pound like a seasoned budget chef. But sometimes, we need a bit of help.

❄️ How You Can Help

We’re looking to raise £450 to cover the cost of a solid, energy-efficient fridge freezer, including the cost of disposing of the old fridge freezer. Any extra funds raised will go directly towards ingredients and supplies for the Lunch Club.

• £5 could help buy fresh veg to fill the fridge
• £10 could stock us up on meat or dairy
• £25 could get us closer to the fridge itself
