Celebrating The Life Of Gerard James

Gerard faced his cancer journey with remarkable bravery and courage. When his symptoms became unmanageable, Overgate Hospice stepped in to support us.

During the two weeks he was there, Gerard and I were both treated with such empathy, dignity, and respect.

It was the little things that meant so much, like placing a radio in his room because they knew how much he loved music, providing daily therapeutic massages to ease his symptoms, arranging a much needed haircut, and even allowing us to dine together.

Their care allowed me to step away from being his carer and simply become his wife again,  something I will always be grateful for.

Gerard left the hospice pain free, and he remained that way until his passing.

Overgate Hospice is truly invaluable. Their support did not end with Gerard’s passing, and they continue to offer me care and comfort today, and into the future.
