Chris Chamberlain is raising money for Haworth RDA
As most are aware my daughter Lily-Rose contracted meningitis when she was 11 months old and was very lucky to pull through as she also contracted 3 serious infections leading to kidney failure. As a result she is profoundly deaf, has Cerebral Palsy, epilepsy, spatial visual disorder and several other disabilities including development and communication delay (I could go on but you get the gist ;-) ). Since she was 3 she has been attending Haworth riding school for the disabled most Saturdays for horse riding lessons and has flourished, not just physically but in herself. All the staff and volunteers of this small but very important charity do a fantastic job and Lily-Rose and many other disabled children and adults have had opportunities and experiences they'd struggle to get elsewhere. This is emphasised by Lily-Rose getting the opportunity to ride for Princess Anne at the age of 5. Not only has Haworth given Lily-Rose these opportunities but also a level of independence, confidence and a chance to be other peers who are just like her. The hard work and dedication of everyone At Haworth Rda must be applauded and the fact they produced the 2013 Overall Champion and several other winners at the Regional Special Olympics is testament to them, something I am hopeful for in the near future for Lily-Rose.
With this Dave Fisher, Darren Banks, Tom Smith (3 colleagues of mine) and I will be completing the 2014 Yorkshire tough mudder at Broughton Hall to raise some much needed funds for Haworth Rda. We will be known as Chamberlain's Raiders, definitely not my choice!
Speaking for myself, just running 12 miles is a massive task never mind in mud along with the 22 obstacles such as a skip full of ice, underwater tunnels, log carries, climbing walls and eventually being electrocuted.
Now I get to the shameless plea for you to please sponsor all 4 of us for what I strongly believe is such a great cause and close to me and my family?s heart. Without Haworth Rda being available Lily-Rose would not have the opportunity to experience something she loves (there are huge waiting lists for disabled riding schools). Any amount will help no matter how small and any donation you could make would be gratefully accepted. Thank you very very much in advance.
