Victoria’s Charity Skydive to Help Reduce Stillbirth
Event date: 25th July 2022
My story
I’ve wanted to do a skydive since I was in my teens..
I’ve finally got it booked and felt that raising money for charity in the process would make it even more worthwhile. My chosen charity is Kicks Count.
As a midwife babies are close to my heart and I’d like to raise as much money as possible to help reduce the number of babies born sleeping by raising awareness about baby movements in pregnancy. Once baby movements are established you should have a pattern of movement that is unique to your baby.. you are the only one who knows if your baby is moving less throughout the day than it did earlier in the pregancy, the movements are slower or more sluggish or the movements have stopped all together. Never leave it till tomorrow to contact maternity triage regarding a reduction in movements. We are open 24/7 and you are never bothering us.. no matter how many episodes of reduced movements you have.. always call us on the same day.. the sooner you call us the sooner we can help you and your baby. Ignoring reduced movements or delaying seeking help can tragically result in stillbirth. Your movements are your baby’s only way of communicating with you in pregnancy.. and in the same way that you stay very still in bed all day when you are sick, your baby becomes very quiet also.. it is not true that your baby moves less the bigger it gets, it is not true that it is normal for baby movements to slow down towards the end of pregnancy.. if your movements become slower and fewer please call your maternity unit triage phone number urgently so that they can monitor your baby. If all is well you will be discharged, if they are not happy with your baby’s heart tracing they will arrange further support and follow up as needed.
With your donations we can help ensure that babies who slow down or become quiet, get the help they need to be born healthy.
Thank you for checking out my page. Making a donation is fast, easy and secure thanks to Give as you Live Donate. They'll take your donation and pass it onto UK Skydiving Adventures to process and send to your chosen charity.
