Children's Cystic Fibrosis Trail Challenge

The Paediatric Cystic Fibrosis Team at Leighton Hospital are taking on an incredible challenge – and they need your support! 💙🥾

On 16th & 17th May, the team will be trekking the full length of the Sandstone Trail to raise funds for Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity.
That’s 34 miles across three counties, hiking over sandstone ridges, cliffs, crags and caves – reaching heights of 746 feet above sea level!
📍 Day 1 – The journey begins in the market town of Frodsham, covering 17 miles to the halfway point at Higher Burwardsley.
📍 Day 2 – The team will complete the remaining miles, crossing the finish line in Whitchurch.

Why are they doing this?

Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is a chronic, life-long condition that primarily affects the lungs and digestive system. In the UK, 1 in every 2,500 babies is born with CF.
Children living with CF face a demanding daily routine of chest physiotherapy, complex medication regimes, regular hospital appointments and numerous tests. These essential treatments help them maintain their health and live lives comparable to their peers — but they also come with a significant time commitment and emotional burden.

How your support will help

Every penny raised will go directly to the Paediatric Cystic Fibrosis Team. The funds will help purchase specialist equipment that goes above and beyond NHS provision — including a child-friendly Spirometer (Lung Function Machine).
This equipment will give children a clearer, more in depth understanding of their lung health, helping clinicians ensure they receive the very best, most appropriate care.
