My story

I spent 4 weeks in February/March volunteering in Rwanda and Uganda with a fantastic charity called Cricket Without Boundaries who introduce children to cricket whilst delivering important health and social issues messaging.

This is where you come in - Cricket Without Boundaries needs your help!
I spent time with the Ugandan Women's Team and they're desperate for good quality cricket equipment. They just won the Women's Day Cup competing against Nepal, Namibia and Hong Kong, China. This is despite playing with old, repaired and falling apart kit. Some of the players don't even own a pair of spikes and getting equipment is very difficult as it is often too expensive and takes months to arrive from abroad.

In addition to this, umpires struggle to find equipment like ball counters, bat gauges and ball gauges. I ran a CPD workshop in Rwanda and umpired with some colleagues in Uganda and we spoke about how many barriers there are to becoming an official. Providing them with the right kit is a step in the right direction.

If you are unable to donate money, or want to contribute in another way to this cause then I am collecting donations of used kit in good condition which will be taken to one of CWB's locations: Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Nepal.
I am also collecting full sets of coloured playing kit (minimum 11 shirts) and tennis balls (there are never enough!)

Thank you for checking out my page. Making a donation is fast, easy and secure thanks to Give as you Live Donate. They'll take your donation and pass it onto Cricket Without Boundaries.

My updates

Some great news - we have a 'shipment' of a  full kit bag of equipment going out to Uganda in October with more of the brand-new Yellow pads, as well as some BRAND NEW English Willow Cricket Bats I bought at a great price from Barry at HECC Sports
The Manager and Captain of the Women's team look forward to the delivery and have sent their thanks to everyone who has contributed to this

We also have some kit going out to Rwanda including bat gauges for some of the up-and-coming umpires! This is a real passion of mine and a great example of CWB's work growing the game.

We raised £150 at the golf day which is fantastic! This will go a long way towards buying quality equipment for talented cricketers to use

It's been great to hear all the stories and messages coming in supporting cricket in associate nations. Recently we sent a shipment to Sierra Leone - below is a photo of the kit they had been using for practice ahead of their Africa qualifiers.
I'm really touched to see how many people from across the sport have been reaching out, learning about CWB and donating to this fund.
Please continue to share stories of how cricket has impacted your life!

1 month to go until our inaugural ECB Umpires and Match Referees' Charity Golf Day for CWB!

Donations have still bee rolling in which is fantastic and will make a huge difference to those involved in cricket across the world

Thanks to some generosity from HECC Sport, we’ve acquired over 30 cricket bats, 20 umpire counters and 4 boxes of cricket ball.

Plus, we’ve been stickering up some donated bats (pictured) ready to be regripped and sent out

These will make a huge difference to grassroots teams and schools in Rwanda and Uganda.

This is all thanks to your donations, so thank you for contributing to cricket in Africa!
