My story
I spent 4 weeks in February/March volunteering in Rwanda and Uganda with a fantastic charity called Cricket Without Boundaries who introduce children to cricket whilst delivering important health and social issues messaging.
This is where you come in - Cricket Without Boundaries needs your help!
I spent time with the Ugandan Women's Team and they're desperate for good quality cricket equipment. They just won the Women's Day Cup competing against Nepal, Namibia and Hong Kong, China. This is despite playing with old, repaired and falling apart kit. Some of the players don't even own a pair of spikes and getting equipment is very difficult as it is often too expensive and takes months to arrive from abroad.
In addition to this, umpires struggle to find equipment like ball counters, bat gauges and ball gauges. I ran a CPD workshop in Rwanda and umpired with some colleagues in Uganda and we spoke about how many barriers there are to becoming an official. Providing them with the right kit is a step in the right direction.
If you are unable to donate money, or want to contribute in another way to this cause then I am collecting donations of used kit in good condition which will be taken to one of CWB's locations: Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Nepal.
I am also collecting full sets of coloured playing kit (minimum 11 shirts) and tennis balls (there are never enough!)
Thank you for checking out my page. Making a donation is fast, easy and secure thanks to Give as you Live Donate. They'll take your donation and pass it onto Cricket Without Boundaries.
