Event date: 5th September 2021
Pete, John, Wayne and Jastin are raising money for Village Of Hope And Grace U.K.
OUR CHALLENGE:
To drive 120 miles from Tewkesbury to Lymington, take a ferry to the Isle of Wight, cycle around the whole of the island (100+ km), back on the ferry to Lymington and then drive 120 miles back home - ALL IN 1 DAY! We all love cycling, but 100km in a day is a lot more than we are used to!!
WERE WILL THE MONEY GO?:
Funds raised will be split 50:50 between VHG (Village of Hope and Grace) who help support orphan children in rural villages in Tanzania and LINC (The Leukaemia and Intensive Chemotherapy Fund) who provide emotional and financial support for people receiving intensive chemotherapy. VHG will collect any money and then forward 50% to LINC.
WHY?:
VHG has almost completed building 'Hope House', a safe house for orphan children and young people in Kibakwe village, Tanzania. 50% of the money raised will be used to furnish Hope House with beds, tables, chairs etc.
We also want to honour the memory of our friend Simon Westlake who sadly lost his battle with leukaemia in June 2021 aged only 39. 50% of the money raised will go to LINC. LINC supports patients practically, financially and emotionally, during their long, intensive chemotherapy treatment. They provide resources for the isolation rooms in Rendcomb Ward such as individual fridges, Sky TV and accessible wet rooms. LINC also funds two psychologists whose support is invaluable to the patients, and can help patients with financial difficulties they may have as a result of many months of hospital treatment.
Simon and his family have been great supporters of VHG for the past 10 years, including being sponsors for some of our young people.
Pete, Wayne and John were friends of Simon. Pete and Wayne are also trustees of VHG and Jastin has been working with VHG in Tanzania for the past 10 years.
Thank you for checking out our page. Making a donation is fast, easy and secure thanks to Give as you Live Donate. They'll take your donation and pass it onto Village Of Hope And Grace U.K..
