Dave Smith's Charity Bike Rides
Event dates: –
Dave Smith is raising money for Crossing the Gain Line
My story
As part of my journey in recovery from open heart surgery I took up cycling for exercise, I was helped out in a big way by the generosity of the Yangon Dragons Rugby club when I was struggling to pay the cost of surgery due to being excluded from insurance as I had had a stroke in 2016.
As a way to say thank you and to pay this generosity forward I plan to do a fund raising event from Nov 15 to Dec 15 to benefit the kids and their families that Crossing the Gain Line work with in Yangon Myanmar.
My plan is to cycle a minimum of 30km a day for the duration and seek either donations or sponsorship per km. Please follow my journey as I post reports daily on facebook and you can donate directly or make per km pledges on FB or PM to me and donate at the end of the 31 days. If you want to join me and fundraise for this great cause please send an email to Tladi @ tladi.small@crossingthegainline.org and he will set you up and get you on board to join the fun, bike, run swim whatever your plan it all works..you get fitter and we help out folk that need it, what can be better than that!!
I hope to reach 1000km over the 31 days of the fundraiser and will post daily, and share strava reports on my activity to my facebook

My updates
Scenic route to the bike shop
I have been looking forward to being able to share this update on my fund raise for Crossing The Gain Line for the last 4 weeks. I finally got over my unplanned December trip over the handlebars and got back to regular rides this week. Which meant we finally hit the 31 days, for the sake of the fund raise I have extended the fund raise to the end of the month to see if I can bring in a bit more cash for the the kids we look after and their families in these difficult times.
For the record and for the per km sponsors my final 31 day distance was 1062 km, a great big thank you to everyone who contributed, total will be close to 1000 usd we have raised so far and hoping for a bit more to come in before the end of January. Many thanks again for the kind sponsors, many thanks for everyone who helped out and everyone who showed support and appreciation along the way.
Day 25
