My story
This is my forth trip out onto the Montane Spine Event. Some say it’s an ultra-marathon, others call it an endurance event. For me, it’s just a serious challenge. The last three encounters for me with The Spine have been 108 miles from Edale (Peak District) to Hardraw (Yorkshire Dales) and the 160 miles from Hardraw to Kirk Yetholm (Scotland).
This time I thought I’d make an attempt at the full bifter - 268 miles from Edale to Kirk Yeltholm (Scotland). The full distance of the Pennine Way route. The event starts on the 14th of June and I’ve got 156 hours to get to the finish. I’ve never attempted this size of event before. This is definitely not going to be easy, and I’m advancing in age so might not get a second chance
This time I’ve decided to raise funds for Mountain Rescue Search Dogs England (MRSDE)
MRSDE is a charity training Mountain Rescue volunteers & their dogs, to find vulnerable missing people in the wild & remote places of the UK since 1971
I’ve been fortunate to have trained two operational Mountain Rescue Search Dogs through MRSDE.
As a family we’ve just welcomed our newest addition, a puppy called Star who we’re hoping will be our next search dog. I thought now was the perfect time to try and raise some much needed funds
