Dave’s Twinkle Toes!

I was approached in February to take part in this dance. It has always been a thought of mine that I would love to be involved in such an event but to be given the opportunity, it proved impossible to turn down. My lack of dancing experience and being totally out of my comfort zone has made this challenge even more terrifying but that is where I usually thrive. To be able to raise money for this amazing cause made me realise that I should put myself out of my comfort zone for the greater good!

I will be paired with a professional dancer and given 8 hours of tuition in order to learn a routine. The theme of the event will be Dirty Dancing and all dances and accompanying music will be from the film. The event will have 10 other couples and we will all compete for the chance to be crowned the Strictly Goes Dirty Dancing Champion!

In winter of 2023, research in the UK shows that at least 309,000 people spent Christmas without a home. This number accounts for almost 140,000 children, which is a staggering 14% increase in just a single year. The situation in the UK is a crisis and it will only continue to worsen without the work of organisations like Shelter.

For those that know me will know that I use my hands for chopping trees down every day and that I do indeed love a good bop at a wedding or event but I’m more of a jumper than a dancer! Dancing in front of 400 people will be a totally new experience for me and one that excited and terrifies me in equal measures.
