Melissa Southern is raising money for Trafford Domestic Abuse Services
On 11th May 2025 I will be running my third Rob Burrow Marathon to raise money for MND awareness.
Sadly Rob Burrow passed away from this dreadful disease, so this is in his memory. It is also for all those who are still suffering, and their families in the hope that the money raised will help support research to eventually find a cure for MND.
Then on 28th June I am walking the 22-Edale Skyline in the Peak district to raise vital funds for the incredible Trafford Domestic Abuse Services (TDAS). This amazing charity provides a lifeline of safety and support to individuals and families affected by domestic abuse in Trafford.
Working in a secondary school, I work with children and adults who have experienced domestic abuse and see the impact it has on their everyday lives.
TDAS helps to fund refuges and vital accommodation for people in desperate need of a safe haven. They also to raise awareness of domestic abuse.
To put this into context ann estimated 4.8% of people aged 16 years and over (6.6% of women and 3% of men) experienced domestic abuse in the last year. This equates to an estimated 2.3 million adults (1.6 million women and 712,000 men).
Any money raised goes towards keep the refugee doors open and support in place for these families in their most difficult times. TDAS is entirely self-funded, so any donation large or small will help keep their work going.
Thank you for checking out my page. Making a donation is fast, easy and secure thanks to Give as you Live Donate. They'll take your donation and pass it onto Trafford Domestic Abuse Services.
