Emily’s 100 miles in May for Melanoma

Skin cancer is one of the most common cancers worldwide, with millions of cases diagnosed every year. In the UK alone, around 100,000 new cases of non-melanoma skin cancer and over 16,000 cases of melanoma are diagnosed annually—many of which are preventable with the right knowledge and precautions.

I’m hosting this melanoma fundraiser because, as a skin specialist, a key part of my role is educating people on skin health and the importance of proper sun protection. I’m passionate about helping others understand how to care for their skin, recognise early warning signs, and minimise their chances of developing skin cancer through simple, everyday habits.

This cause is especially important to me because I know too many people who have been diagnosed with skin cancer. Seeing what they’ve gone through has reinforced just how crucial awareness, early detection, and prevention really are.

Through this fundraiser, I want to raise both funds and awareness—encouraging more people to take sun safety seriously and ultimately helping to reduce the number of diagnoses in the future.
