Emma's Gecko Challenge

Event dates: 3rd August 2012 – 31st December 2012

Emma Davidson is raising money for North Wales Mountain Rescue Association

My story

I'm raising money & awareness for North Wales Mountain Rescue Association because the dedicated volunteers literally go above and beyond.

The NWMRA is made of over 300 dedicated volunteers that are available 24 hours a day 365 days a year. NWMRA is made up of 8 teams, with the average member clocking a minimum of 7 years experience. With many members holding over 20 years experience it's no wonder the NWMRA has recognised 'World Class' Mountain Leaders."

I am one of the Directors of Gecko Clothing and we chose to support this great charity to highlight the fantastic and vital work they undertake in dangerous conditions and try and raise some much deserved and needed funds for them.

For the first Gecko Challenge, we, Ryan and I, the Directors, will cycle from Cardiff to Colwyn Bay from 25th of September. That's 200 miles. We will need to average 65-70 miles a day to succeed this within our targeted 3 days, just to put this into context, this cycle will be across the countryside of Wales, not known for the flattest, or smoothest terrain.
It's our aim to raise at least £1000. Myself and Ryan, the other Gecko Director (my husband) will also be taking on this challenge and we have a sub challenge to see who can raise the most...

Me, obviously :)

We will be keeping you updated with the progress of our training through a video diary, blog posts and any other way we can think of to spread the word.
We hope to meet some of the NWMRA teams and volunteers and get along to some of the training sessions to show you the level of dedication these volunteers give.
