Emma Guthrie is raising money for Phoenix Charitable Trust

My story

This coming Sunday I’ll be undertaking the biggest challenge of my life so far - the London Marathon. It’s been 7 months in the making nearly. I was running 3 times a week between Mar-June getting ‘running fit’ for the 16 week training plan starting at the beginning of June. This has seen me running 4 times a week getting up to 21 miles 2 weekends ago. ‘Only’ having to run for 90 mins / 60 mins the past 2 weekends for my ‘long’ runs has been bliss compared to previous weeks! I won’t know what to do with myself when I wake up in 2/3/4 weekends time & haven’t got to run an insane distance and no 10Ks before work either!
Although I was ‘lucky’ & won a place in the ballot, several people have kindly asked which charity I’m running for so in memory of my darling mum & dad, who sadly passed away so long ago now, I’ve decided to raise money for the Phoenix Charitable Trust which is a local charity supporting services not funded by the NHS. You can read about them here - phoenixcharitabletrust.org.uk
This was the charity chosen by my mum when my dad died. At the time, the district nurses / occupational health staff who were so wonderful with him - and us - when he was terminally ill were supported by the Trust and donations in his memory was our way of saying thank you. Many of my friends and their families also benefit from the services supported by the Trust.
Times are tough for so many but if you would like to make a donation I'd be incredibly grateful.
Should you wish, you can check out the highs & lows of my training on Instagram & Facebook - emsrunningthemarathon
I’m not a lover of running at at all - but dare I say it, it's been (mostly) fun along the way!
Thank you
Emma x
