“I ignored a mole because i was told 4 years ago it was harmless… and it turned out to be melanoma.”

In January 2026, I was diagnosed with Stage 2 nodular melanoma. I had previously been told the mole was harmless, so I ignored it. I was lucky — my cancer had not spread and was fully removed with surgery, but I now have regular follow-ups for the next five years.

Melanoma is serious. It can spread quickly, and early detection saves lives. In my 20s I used sunbeds and loved the sun — I didn’t realise how dangerous UV exposure could be or at least thought it won't happen to me.

This May, I’m walking 100 miles to raise money for Melanoma Focus and Skcin to support research, patient care, and awareness. Every step is for those affected and for the hope that early detection can save lives.
