My story
In 2024, I was due to run in for the Great South Run for codebar...
...We raised the funds and then there was a hurricane (I kid you not) and the whole thing was cancelled...
I ran from Brighton to Worthing as a replacement run so codebar still got support. It was fun, I dressed as a robot, people thought it was odd...but running on my own was not the same as being in a race.
This year I'm determined to run in the Great South Run for three reasons:
- In a very real way I owe my current work to my experiences and collaborations with codebar Brighton. The folks at codebar gave me the confidence in my tech skills, particularly when it comes to coding and debugging to forge my own path. I know many people who have benefitted from their support and mentorship, so I want to pay it forward.
- I am only motivated by having a goal. This year has been far from plane sailing and having the excuse and permission to spend some time running (and therefore decompressing) will help me AND will support codebar.
- I have done the Great North Run and therefore the Great South Run both essential and inevitable, as I am a completist (yes, I am 'that' person who must collect all the secrets in a game).
Help me complete the side quest of side quests... run for code bar, pass go, and ideally collect £500...
