Why I’m Taking on the National Three Peaks Challenge for Flipside CIC

This year, I’m taking on the National Three Peaks Challenge - tackling Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon in just 24 hours - to raise vital funds for our newly formed Community Interest Company, Flipside, where I’m proud to serve as Operations, Funding & Delivery Management Director.

I’ve completed this challenge twice before, but not for more than a decade. So for me, this is both a personal and meaningful milestone. I remember the incredible sense of achievement that comes with standing on those summits - the exhaustion, the views, the camaraderie, and ultimately the reminder of what we can do when we push beyond our comfort zones. I’ve always loved being outdoors, surrounded by nature, and I’m genuinely excited to experience that all again.

But above all else, I’m doing this for a hugely important cause.
The funds raised will support our pilot programme, Flip Forward, which exists to help people move from surviving to thriving. We’re working with individuals who have faced some of life’s toughest challenges - homelessness, addiction, long-term unemployment, poor mental health, and more.

Our work is inspired by the lived experience of our founder directors, Jo Brooker and David Kaufman. Their story began with a chance encounter outside a Sainsbury’s store, where David was homeless. That moment changed everything. Not only did it transform David’s life, but it ultimately led to the creation of Flipside CIC - built on the belief that with the right support, everyone deserves the opportunity to rebuild their lives and create a positive future.
Flip Forward will help people stabilise, rebuild their confidence and wellbeing, and gain foundational life skills. From there, we‘ll support them through pre-employment training, vocational development, and ultimately meaningful work with employers who believe in offering a fair chance and a fresh start. But we don’t just walk away; we stay by their side, offering continued support to help them sustain, grow, and truly thrive.

This challenge is tough - but nowhere near as tough as the challenges faced by the people we’re here to support. That’s why your contribution matters. Your support will help launch Flip Forward and make a real difference to people’s lives.
