Focus Centre roof appeal

We urgently need your help to repair our leaking roof at the Focus Centre

The success story of the Focus Centre in providing many more community support services has been hit badly by the need to rapidly repair a leaking roof. We have started an urgent appeal, online. Please donate if you can and share widely with friends and family and help us protect these buildings for years to come.

The Focus Centre has been refurbished for community use by the Swanage and Purbeck Development Trust following Asset Transfers from Dorset Council. In addition to the successful Explorer Childcare facility, an early years Family Hub, a Welcome Lounge, Citizens Advice Bureau, mental health advice and drug and alcohol support have all become established on site. The most recent refurbishment has been to accommodate the Focus Café, managed by the Allsort’d additional needs group.

The roof needing repair is over the Children’s Centre. The waterproof membrane protecting the roof timbers has open cracks letting water in. This is turn has damaged the timbers below, which have started rotting. Temporary fixes are sadly not enough. The whole roof needs replacing urgently.

The cost of repair is over £21,000. Our existing funding is not enough to cover this huge expense.

To overcome this set-back we need the people of Swanage and the wider area to help us raise the money needed.

We are passionate about continuing to expand community services.

We need your help to continue these ambitious plans. Every donation of whatever size will be very gratefully received and will help us towards our goal of £21,000 and get the roof done before the winter closes in.
