Forget Me Not Walk - In Memory of Dodger 🌈
13th August 2023 at Rockpool, Gwithian, Cornwall
Commencing at 11am.
Dodger, more frequently known as DD, was a 14 year old Staffie who gained his wings on 13th June 2023 after a sudden illness. He was my everything, my world & my shadow. I adopted Dodger from NAWT Cornwall in June 2009 during my time working for the rescue. This is where DD spent 3 years looking for his forever home after coming in as a stray. He really struggled in kennels and after an obvious hard start he did have some behavioural issues. I fell in love with him the instant I saw him and when I was in a position to have a dog - he came straight home with me and filled my life. From the day he stepped into my house, all of his anxiety driven behaviours drifted away and he was the perfect little man... even though he was the world's biggest opportunist and would steal anything remotely edible... or inedible as my vets know too well! He gave me 6 perfect years, ones I will never ever forget and will hold so close in my heart forever. Nothing has ever touched my soul the way he did.
So in memory of Dodger we have organised a Forget Me Not Walk, this is for anyone to remember their dog that has passed over to the rainbow bridge with a walk over Gwithian Sands in Cornwall. I have two charities very close to my heart that I would love to raise some money for in memory of my little man and they are National Animal Welfare Trust (Cornwall Branch) & Senior Staffy Club.
NAWT Cornwall to give back to them what they gave DD in somewhere safe to be, love, care & shelter when he had no one for 3 years. Then Senior Staffy Club as well - this great charity specialises in rescuing senior staffies and finding them their perfect homes. Not only that but they run a Rainbow Bridge group which has been a huge support over the last 6 months in the build up to losing my little man.
Beautiful souls doing beautiful work, and I could think of no one else better to be splitting the money we raise with in DDs honour. I think he would be proud. I want to give back to amazing charities that support so many animals in their time of need.
All I ask is that everyone attending the walk donates and for those farther afield that can't make the walk and want to donate then this page is here for you guys. This walk is in memory of DD but it is a Forget Me Not walk so it is a chance to be able to remember all dogs on rainbow bridge and hold this special day for them too.
So on Sunday 13th August at The Rockpool in Gwithian at 11am we would love to see as many of you as possible and enjoy our dogs along our gorgeous coastline. Rockpool have kindly allowed us to use their space to meet for the start and end of our walk then there will be food and beverages available to purchase if you wish to stay and grab yourself some lunch and chat all things dogs. All money raised will be split 50:50 between both charities.
Thank you for checking out my page. Making a donation is fast, easy and secure thanks to Give as you Live Donate. They'll take your donation and pass it onto Senior Staffy Club and NATIONAL ANIMAL WELFARE TRUST.
