My story
In celebration of the tenth anniversary of SHARe Knowsley, I'm going to undertake a sponsored walk starting in Crosby at Antony Gormley's Another Place.
It feels like a fitting place to start because, for me, it's a reminder that the people SHARe supports have come from so many other places, often from across the sea.
The figures look out towards the sea, which also reminds me that while people are building new lives here, their hearts and minds often look back towards their homelands, families and the people they have left behind.
And, as a small acknowledgement of the long and sometimes treacherous journeys people undertake to reach safety, I'll be walking seventeen miles back to the Old School House — where I hope to receive a warm welcome!
I know my walk is nothing compared with the journeys undertaken by the people SHARe supports, but it will certainly be a challenge for me!
