Hello all , so we are gonna undertake Welsh 3000s challenge to raise Autism awareness and support Blackmarston School in Hereford .
Blackmarston School is a specialist setting that explicitly supports children with Autism Spectrum Disorder .
What is Autism !
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) , is a lifelong neurodevelopmental condition that affects how people perceive the world , communicate and relate to others .It's called a spectrum because every autistic person is different , some need significant support , while others live more independently .
People with autism may experience challenges with social interaction or communication , prefer routines and predictability , have intense interests or passions , respond differently to sights, sounds or touch (sensory processing).
But autism is also about strengths such as honesty , creativity , focus and unique ways of thinking .
Why it matters !
At places like Blackmarston School , children with autism are supported to thrive through specialist teaching approaches , sensory friendly environments , compassionate staff who meet each child at their level .
Autism isn't something to "fix" its a different way of experiencing the world.
Events like this help raise awareness , funding and most importantly , understanding .
ONE MESSAGE TO REMEMBER
"Autism is not disability, it's a different ability " with the right support , autistic individuals can flourish and that's why Blackmarston School matters .
