Coast to Coast, 215 mile run.

On the 2nd May 2026, I set out to run 215 miles, from Southport to Hornsea (West coast to East coast of England). The route will take me along the Trans Pennine Trail, and I hope it will take me 5 days, or less! I am running solo, but I will be supported by my running club, Twisted Running. 
I will be raising funds for the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation, a charity which aims to create awareness of MND, to fund and assist research into the illness, with a quest to find a cure. 
I was fortunate to play football with two lads at Altrincham FC who sadly went on to have MND. I only played with George Melling for a short time. But I played lots with Mark Maddox at Alty and other clubs. Mark lived with MND for 12 years. After his diagnosis, Mark ran the London Marathon to raise funds and increase people's awareness of MND. Mark sadly passed away due to MND at the age of 50. I am 50 in September 2026, so I plan to run and raise money in Mark and George’s honour for MND, hoping they will inspire me during any difficult periods.
