Giving Up What We Can
Event dates: 1st November 2016 – 9th December 2016
Emilia Wilson is raising money for Unlimit Health (formerly SCI Foundation)
My story
Throughout November, Giving What We Can: St Andrews will be fundraising for SCI (Schistosomiasis Control Initiative) a charity which tackles neglected tropical diseases by providing deworming treatments. Emilia Wilson, Rufaida Al Hashmi, Celia Hindley, Oscar Westerblad, Liam Stott, Polen Türkmen, Tom McElholm, Kirsty Hardwick, Divya Parkash, Gaudre Beganskaite and Chris Leung will be taking part and the rules are simple:
(1) Pick an indulgence. (2) You cannot consume any of that indulgence for the month of November. (3) You must donate what you would have spent to SCI.
We have people giving up things from sweets, to caffeine to alcohol and all proceeds will go to the Schistosomiasis Control Initiative (SCI) who are ranked as the second most effective charity in the world by Giving What We Can and GiveWell. At under £0.50 per treatment, if we hit our target we can provide deworming treatments for more than 2000 children.
If you would like to help with this fantastic cause (or if you just really pity those of us facing a months 9ams without coffee) please hit donate!
