Giving Up What We Can
Event dates: 1st November 2016 – 30th November 2016
Irene Tortajada is raising money for Unlimit Health (formerly SCI Foundation)
My story
This November Giving What We Can: Glasgow will be fundraising for Schistosomiasis Control Initiative (SCI), a charity that tackles neglected tropical diseases by providing deworming treatments. It has been named one of the most effective charities in the world by independent charity evaluator GiveWell, and deworming treatments are deemed "best buy" in global health by WHO. Only one pound will treat 2 children against worms for a whole year!
Those of us taking the challenge are Emi Riiko, Matus Mikus, Victor Lovic, Katerina Manoli, Stig Rasmus, Isabel Lwin and Irene Tortajada.
The fundraiser consists in giving up an indulgence we usually spend quite a bit of money on, like alcohol, coffee or eating out, and donate the money we have saved to SCI. We will also ask friends and family to support our campaign by donating to this page; please give generously and thank you so much for your help! If we hit our target, SCI will be able to treat 2000 children against schistosomiasis!
