My story

The Great North Run is never something I saw myself doing. I run, I play sports weekly and I wasn't sure there was much incentive for people to sponsor me. But this changed a little since having Frankie...
After being pregnant/sick during lockdown and doing absolutely nothing for over a year, it has been a real struggle to pull my fitness back to anywhere near what it was. My overall mentality on spending time on myself and my physical health and fitness is not quite what it was pre-pregnancy, on top of this, the time that I now have to train, while looking after a 1-year-old is minimal. Getting out for runs 2-3 times a week has been a logistical nightmare at the best of times. But here I am determined to do it now, I have trained, bought new running shoes and i am still not confident i will make it, but i will try my damn hardest not to let anyone down. I have also fallen a little in love with the charity I am running it for:

Pathways4All is a local charity that aims to provide play and social opportunities for disabled children and young people across the North East. They are the parent company of Tim Lamb Centre in Benton and are open to disabled children across the North East. The centre offers a range of play facilities for disabled children/ young people including an all-age soft play area with a cafe, sensory room, indoor trampolines, computer suite, and a fully enclosed playground.
Everyone and especially young people should have access to play facilities and if that means they need a specially designed area to enable maximum fun then that's what they deserve to have! So please donate what you can, not for me but for all the kids and young people who rely on Pathways4All to be able to do the things we (including myself) take for granted every day.

Love you all, Peace :)
Nicki
