The Wales Marathon for GBSN

I will be running the Wales Marathon on Sunday 10th June. Rather than punish my body for the hell of it, I felt, albeit last minute, it was an opportunity to help benefit a worthy cause.

I didn't realise until we had our third son, how amazing it is to be able to provide a baby with all that he or she needs - the optimum fuel! To run in support of GBSN and our local breast-feeding support group, MOBS, in Stroud, is something I consider to be really worthwhile. It's all very well believing that all women should give breastfeeding a go, but we need to provide appropriate support, especially in a growing bottle-feeding culture. Besides this, I know that meeting other mothers at MOBS and having a cup of tea and a chat, was the highlight of my wife's week, especially in the early days.

Breastfeeding support groups can make all the difference and their work is invaluable. We would both like to see breastfeeding as more accepted in our culture - it truly is magic stuff and is life-changing and in some cases, life-saving; a cause worth support!
