Fin, Alex, Robby, Nate, Harry, Camilla and Milo will be walking 17 miles along Hadrian's Wall on October 23-24th to raise funds for The Dusty Yak Foundation and the Ruth Strauss Foundation.
We will be walking with some of our parents and expecting sore feet and plenty of rain!! But apparently, we are allowed to buy wooden swords when we are there so expecting a few Roman battles!
These two charities are very close to our hearts, and we are determined to make a difference in the lives of those they support.
The Dusty Yak Foundation provides orphans and vulnerable children in Nepal with everything from housing, food, clothing, and education. They aim to relieve poverty, advance education, and protect and preserve the health of those suffering from hardship and distress through basic necessities, training, financial support, logistical support, and educational grants.
The Ruth Strauss Foundation was founded in memory of Sir Andrew Strauss's wife Ruth, who died from an inoperable form of lung cancer that attacks non-smokers, at the age of 46 and mother of two children. 41,000 children experience the death of a parent every year in the UK – 112 children every single day. Yearly, 6,000 people in the UK are diagnosed and over 57% at stage IV when there is no curative treatment. They provide emotional, psychological, and wellbeing support to patients and their families going through a similar experience, as well as raising awareness of the need for more research & collaboration in the fight against non-smoking lung cancers, so that together they find the causes soon and improve outcomes.
We are aiming to raise at least £4,000, and your donation will go a long way in supporting these two amazing charities that make such a difference in people's lives.
Thank you so much for your support!
