Hannah Running Rome Marathon

On 22nd March, I will be running my very first marathon in Rome, and I am hoping to raise £500 for CHECT, the Childhood Eye Cancer Trust.
 
Rome holds a very special place in my heart. In 1960, my Grandad competed in the Rome Olympics in the 1500m and finished an incredible fifth. To be running my first marathon in the same city where he represented his country feels deeply meaningful, and I know he would be immensely proud.
 
I only started running in January 2024. At the beginning, even a short run felt like a challenge. Since then, with consistency, determination and plenty of early mornings, I have pushed myself further than I ever thought possible. I train alongside my husband Matt and my brother, whose support has made every mile more enjoyable and every tough session more manageable.
 
I am fundraising for CHECT because I truly believe in the work they do. Through our partnership at work, I have seen how much support they provide to children and families affected by retinoblastoma. The impact they make is real and life changing, from funding research to offering practical and emotional support when it is needed most.
