Heidi's Leap of Faith

Hi, I'm Heidi, and on 25th September I'll be doing something that many people would probably think is exciting... I'm jumping out of a perfectly good aeroplane.

Now, before you picture me as some fearless adrenaline junkie, let me set the record straight. Anyone who knows me will tell you that I'm absolutely terrified of flying. In fact, I've had hypnotherapy to help with my fear and regularly plan holidays based on whether I can get there by ferry and car instead of stepping onto an aircraft!

So the idea of flying thousands of feet into the air and then voluntarily launching myself out of the door is, quite frankly, terrifying. But that's exactly why I'm doing it. This skydive is about proving that fears don't have to define us. It's about stepping outside my comfort zone, building resilience, finding confidence, and showing myself that I can achieve more than I ever thought possible.

As a military veteran and someone who now works for Hoplite Charity, this challenge also has a much bigger purpose. The event has been organised by the Royal Signals Charity, and I'm proud that £750 from the funds raised will also go directly to support their fantastic work. Both charities do incredible things to support veterans, serving personnel and the wider military community. They provide practical help, guidance and support to people who have dedicated so much in service to our country. By supporting this challenge, you're helping ensure that support continues to reach those who need it most.
