My story

My journey to the London Marathon and a bit about myself.

The trauma I went though as a child ruined my mental state so much I was too lost and confused to even believe I could reach my dreams.

I am now 49 and will be 50 on race day.

Nearly half a century it took me to recover and heal and I am still a work in progress.

I can't reach some of my childhood dreams anymore and that is a lost part of my life. Although, I can reach a smaller dream and that is to help, maybe one child to reach one of their dreams.

I chose Lord Taverners as they support children.

This to me would be a dream come true. The chance to give a child something I could not have as I was too scared to chase my dreams.

I was one of the weakest people that hid behind fake strength as I was so frightened and I never understood the way you have yo be to chase your dream's as a child.

Over the years this made me weaker, mentally ill and physically unwell, I went to 3 mental hospitals to face the demons my truama had created.

I can now say after the hard fight to get better which it started by a hospital and their gym. I had never been a gym before.

I started with 3 minute of running and built on that. I was determined to get stronger but unknowing of things that could help, so i started to study to, anywhere and anyway i could.

To do the studying j needed to do, I used Facebook, Direct Learning, Youtube, BBC and anywhere I could to help me achieve what i wanted to.

Being someone with minimal education, this was hard.

I built on my running and got to 2km. My body began to hurt so much I let weakness in and quit running and started weights and calisthenics to become stronger.

In hospital I made a promise to the BBC that I would achieve the couch to 5km challenge.

Then one day I just went an ran the 5km and since that day, I have been working on myself and just kept turning up to run and get stronger.

In my 2nd hospital people put do a marathon in my mind and it hadn't left. So here I am going to try and achieve something that I used to believe people were mad to do.

I really am determined to complete this goal and have the chance to give children something I never had.

I have always been that awkward person that says the wrong thing type thing, trying desperately to fit and not rejected.

Now everytime I see a child reach a dream, I always cry to see the joy in their eyes, something I always wanted.

So please help me and support me to reach a dream and make a dream come true for a child.

Thank you for reading and the support
