Every Lap Has a Purpose
On 11th July, when I step up to the start line of the Fit Farm Backyard Ultra, it won’t just be about running.

Every 4.167-mile lap will be for the young people at Turner Farm. With each step, I’ll be thinking of those who haven’t found their place in mainstream education—the ones who needed something different. A place to feel safe, rebuild confidence, and believe in themselves again.

TURNER FARM IS THAT PLACE

For nearly 300 years, it has changed lives. Today, it offers young people facing trauma, mental health challenges, or barriers to education a chance to grow, learn, and rediscover their potential.

As one young person said: “The farm has shown me that I can achieve my dreams, and I don’t need to be scared.”

That’s why I’m running. A Backyard Ultra has no finish line—just another lap, every hour, until you can’t go on. It’s tough, physically and mentally—but nothing compared to the daily challenges these young people face. I’ll keep going for as long as I can, because every mile supports the Turner Farm Big Build Project—creating a future where even more young people can find hope and opportunity. When it gets hard, I’ll remember why I started.

This isn’t just a run. It’s a chance to help change lives.
