Hike Against Poverty Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge

On 13th October I will be setting off on a new Adventure to walk two consecutive marathons across the Sahara desert. I was inspired to take on this challenge by another adventurer who believes in taking on challenges even when you know you might not complete them at the front of the pack, or even be any good at them. I'm not a person you would normally associate with the word "marathon" and in fact, the most common response when sharing this with friends and family has been "You're not running are you?" The answer is no, I'll be doing it my way, walking and taking my time. When I received the link to this Hike Against Poverty challenge, it felt like the perfect warm up event, and also an opportunity to raise a little money for a charity close to my heart. Prior to covid I was volunteering at a local Trussel trust food bank, and it was a humbling experience to play a small part in providing much needed food and other essentials to families and individuals in need, and with the cost of living increasing food banks have never been more important.
