I'm running the Great Eastern Run.

Running for Age UK Cambridgeshire and Peterborough

On October 12th I will be running the Great Eastern Run in Peterborough on behalf of Age UK Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, a charity that helps older adults with a range of services from information and advice to practical support such as fitting grab rails. The run is 13.1 miles (21.1 km) and is my first half marathon, which I'm very excited for! 

I joined Age UK Cambridgeshire and Peterborough last year and have seen the incredible difference that the charity has made to older adults lives. Having worked previously in healthcare I can now see how services such as those provided by charities like Age UK Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, are of enormous importance to supporting the community.

I have seen first hand the immense dedication of the staff in the charity and am extremely proud to not only become part of the team but to also fundraise on behalf of the charity.

Having learnt more about the charities services I thought it would be useful to provide a brief insight into some of them. 

Their Sharing Time service sees volunteers matched with service users to build friendships and talk regularly, either by making weekly visit or regular phone calls.
Or there Hospital Discharge and Admission Avoidance service that supports safe discharges homes as well help to prevent admissions and readmissions.
