In Loving Memory of Mum

July 4th carries different meanings for each of us. For the US, it is a celebration of independence; for others, a birthday or wedding anniversary. For me, it marks a deeply personal moment. It is the day I lost my mother.

A year ago, I said goodbye to a treasure. She was my biggest supporter, counsellor, confidant and role model. The months since have been filled with waves of emotion, but through it all, God has been my steady anchor.

In her honour, in addition to having written a short memoir, I am raising funds for a cause that I know would touch her heart. My mother had a deep love for little children and even taught Sunday school until her final days, when her strength faded. I will be supporting New Life Home Trust (NLHT), a charity in Kenya that cares for abandoned babies and vulnerable children.

Every Baby Deserves Love, Hope, and a Future 
In Kenya, many babies encounter their early days alone—abandoned in slums or left vulnerable, some battling HIV while trying to survive. There is hope. There is love. There is New Life Home Trust (NLHT). 
 
For over 30 years, NLHT have responded to the needs of Kenya’s most vulnerable babies. Through the support of our Kenyan partners and generous supporters, NLHT Have cared for over 2,600 children—each one a life with potential, deserving of love. 
 
When a baby arrives at New Life Home Trust, they receive more than food, medicine, and shelter. They are also given reassurance through compassionate care—warmth, gentle words, and the knowledge that they matter. Every feeding, every cuddle, every soft touch conveys that they are valued and have a bright future ahead.  Most of these children find permanent families through adoption, both within Kenya and internationally. For those with special needs who remain in our care, we act as their family, providing lifelong support and love. Every child deserves to feel cherished. 
 
Kind donors and supporters do more than improve statistics—they make a meaningful difference in the life of a child who begins with little. Through donations, NLHT turns abandonment into a sense of belonging, despair into hope, and isolation into community.
