Supporting Men’s mental health

My story

In 2023 I lost my dad aged 72. Losing family is never easy but not knowing how much and for how long someone was suffering and how I might have been able to help is something that will never leave me.

In 2025 I will attempt the Northern Traverse, a race which follows the Coast to Coast route as a continuous challenge - from St Bees in the Lake District to Robin Hoods Bay.  Prior to that for training I will also complete a series of solo ultra length adventures.

I want to use this opportunity to raise money for Andy’s Man Club and Men in Sheds Uk - both charities provide men with an opportunity to be together and chat and gain peer support and friendship. Dad attended a men in sheds group and gained loads from being part of a community and sharing skills.

Men’s mental health matters. In an age when we talk much more about mental health than we used to, there’s still somethings that don’t get discussed and somethings that are taboo. Male stereotypes of being strong and not needing to sharing their issues, still exist.

In having this fundraising page I not only want to raise funds for two fantastic charities but to raise awareness, to make sure you all stop to really listen when someone talks to you.
